Mistral Group (0800 781 4144) have supplied Guernsey based airline, Blue Islands, have with a new 8.9m Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 for use as an airside shuttle bus at Guernsey Airport. The vehicle features a revised interior arrangement to allow more standing passengers for the short transfer from the terminal building to the aircraft remote stands.
Commenting on the delivery, Mistral’s Steve Low said, “Blue Islands approached us initially for guidance on the various options that were available for a DDA compliant vehicle for use airside at Guernsey Airport. After taking an initial brief, we have worked with operations team at Blue Island to reconfigure the interior to meet their particular requirements for increased standee numbers and arranged for the necessary alterations to be put in place prior to delivery. Additionally we have put together a flexible financing package that has allowed them run a new vehicle, rather than converting older ex fleet vehicles which previously had been the norm.”
Blue Islands Operations Director, Ian Le Moigne, commented, “The new Enviro 200 bus is ideal for our passengers and gives them an easy access, modern vehicle that allows us to speed up transfers to and from the terminal to the aircraft. Our initial concept was that we would buy a used vehicle and convert this to allow airside operation, however after talking it through with the guys from Mistral we realised that we could actually operate a brand new vehicle with the added benefits of less maintenance spend and a better brand profile.”
The vehicle supplied is an 8.9m Alexander Dennis Enviro 200, with a modified interior that has fewer seats in the lower saloon with increased provision for standing passengers. The wheelchair position is retained in the usual area. All others areas of the vehicle are unchanged with standard Cummins Euro 4.5 engine and Allison gearbox.
